The Football Association has charged both Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel and Tottenham Spur’s Antonio Conte  following their clash on Sunday after the 2-2 draw in the Premier League match between Chelsea and Tottenham on Sunday.

The pair were both sent off after an altercation at fulltime after Tottenham Hotspur had equalised through a Harry Kane last gasp header . The FA alleged that the behaviour of both managers was improper but they both have until Thursday, 18 August to respond to the charge. This follows an investigation launched by the FA into Tuchel’s post-match comments about referee Anthony Taylor. The German suggested Taylor should not referee Chelsea matches in future.

A large number of football fans raised eyebrows on some controversial calls by Anthony Taylor in the London Derby especially in the buildup to both goals scored by Tottenham.  The Blues were furious that Taylor failed to penalise Bentancur for a challenge on fellow midfielder Kai Havertz in the build-up to Spurs’ first equaliser scored by Pierre Emile Hojberg. The resulting melee led to a touchline scuffle between the two managers, which ended with Tuchel and Conte being booked.

Cristian Romero’s pull on defender Marc Cucurella’s hair during an attacking corner for Spurs was also ignored by the referee just before Harry Kane’s goal and with tempers still running high, both men got involved in another spat at full-time and were sent off.

Meanwhile, the FA has confirmed that Romero will not be facing retrospective action for his pull on Cucurella’s hair as hair pulling is not considered an offence in football’s rules.
