Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been drawn with former champions PSV Eindhoven, impressive Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt and Swiss giants FC Zurich in Group A of this season’s Europa League. Arsenal’s group-stage rivals all dropped out of the Champions League qualifying phase.

While Bodo/Glimt and FC Zurich are champions of Norway and Switzerland respectively, PSV Eindhoven managed by former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, were knocked out by Scottish side Rangers in the Champions League play-off.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United will play La Liga side Real Sociedad, FC Sheriff and Omonia Nicosia in Group E in what appears to be a favourable draw for the Red Devils. Manchester United, winners in 2017, are familiar with the potential threats of Real Sociedad who they played in the group stage of the Champions League in 2013 and in the last 32 of the Europa League in 2021, with United winning 4-0 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Roma who are winners of the maiden Europa Conference League last season are in Group C with Real Betis, Ludogorets and HJK Helsinki.
