Nigeria’s homebased Super Eagles have failed to qualify for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) Algeria 2023 after losing 4-5 on penalties to the homebased Black Galaxies of Ghana.
After losing 2-0 at the Cape Coast stadium in Ghana last weekend, the Super Eagles B fought back at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja to pull back on levels terms on aggregate. Salisu Yusuf’s boys got two goals courtesy of Zulkifilu Muhammed and Chijioke Akuneto’s spot kick in the second half of the game to go 2-2 on aggregate.
Both teams had to settle for a penalty shoot-out after regulation time which the home based Eagles lost 4-5 on penalties. The result means the CHAN Eagles will again miss the championship set to hold in Algeria in 2023 while Annor Walker’s Galaxies will celebrate this victory over their fierce West African rivals.
