Arsenal extended their lead to 8 points in the Premier League with a routine 2-0 victory over Spurs in the North London Derby.
The Gunners got in the lead after a gaffe from Tottenham Hotspurs captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Bukayo Saka was initially credited with the goal but it was later counted as a Lloris own goal. Thomas Partey left many fans stunned with a fine shot before Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard then hit a long range shot that beat the Spurs goalie to his left bottom corner.
Eddie Nketiah looked to make it three after latching onto a fine pass from the impressive Granit Xhaka but Hugo Lloris made a fine block to spare Spurs’ blushes.
All eyes were on Harry Kane as he looked to equal Jimmy Greaves’ record as the all-time Spurs topscorer but the Arsenal defence kept him at bay all through.
Antonio Conte was visibly frustrated at his team’s lack of bite all round but would be hoping it is a different story when they face second-placed Manchester City during the week in their league clash.
For Mikel Arteta and his blazing hot Gunners, it’s eight points and #MindTheGap on the Premier League log.
