Arsenal have swung quickly into action in the transfer market with the signing of Spezia defender Jakub Kiwior. The Polish defender will sign with the Gunners until June 2028 and will be the second addition following the signing of Leandro Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion.

West Ham have signed Aston Villa striker Danny Ings for an initial £12m which will rise to £15m if David Moyes’ side avoid relegation from the Premier League.

West Ham  expect Ings to be available to face Everton for Saturday’s game after confirming they submitted the neccessary paperwork to the Premier League before the 12:00 GMT deadline. Ings joins on a deal running until 2025 after almost 18 months at Villa, who he joined for £25m in August 2021. His arrival comes as Moyes revealed Italian Gianluca Scamacca will be out with a knee injury, leaving Michail Antonio as the only other fit striker.

Meanwhile, Wolves have agreed a £3.3m fee with West Ham to sign defender Craig Dawson from the London club.

The 32-year-old had indicated a wish to move further north and was left out of West Ham’s defeat at Wolves last Saturday by manager David Moyes. Dawson, whose last game for the Hammers was an FA Cup win at Brentford on 7 January, is yet to have a medical.

Nottingham Forest have signed Newcastle striker Chris Wood on loan until the end of the season in a deal that includes an option to make the transfer permanent until 2024.

The 31-year-old New Zealand international moves after a year at Newcastle, who he joined from Burnley for £25m.

Atletico Madrid have signed Netherlands forward Memphis Depay from Barcelona for an initial 3m euros.

The 28-year-old, whose contract was due to run out in the summer, joins on a two-and-a-half-year deal that includes the option to sign Atletico’s Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco in the future.

He moved to Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 after leaving Lyon, and scored 14 times in 42 appearances.
