Fourth seed Novak Djokovic breezed past Andrey Rublev in three straight sets to advance into the semifinals in Melbourne.

The Serb had an easy ride against fifth seed Rublev with a 6-1 6-2 6-4 victory as he continued his quest for a 10th singles title in Melbourne.

The nine-time champion, who cut a frustrated figure in some moments during the game, again had his left thigh strapped.

He is set to play American Tommy Paul in the last four on Friday after the 25 year old ended Ben Shelton’s surprise run to reach a first major semi-final.

American world number 35 Paul won 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 5-7 6-4 against his 20-year-old compatriot Shelton on Rod Laver Arena.

Greek third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will meet Russian Karen Khachanov in Friday’s other semi-final.
