PSG’s Argentine captain, Lionel Messi topped the list of winners on a glamorous night of celebration of football’s elite.
Argentine football was rewarded for a blistering 2022 with four awards on the night with the men’s national team captain Lionel Messi named the Best Player, head coach Lionel Scaloni going home with the Best Men’s Coach award, Emiliano Martinez dancing into the night as the Best Men’s Goalkeeper and their fans named the national team Fans of the year.
Real Madrid trio of Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Thibaut Courtois were named in the FIFPro XI teaming up with others including Manchester United’s Casemiro, Manchester City duo of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, Joao Cancelo, PSG trio of Achraf Hakimi, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi with Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk completing the lineup.
England’s Lioness head coach Sarina Weigmann was named the Women’s Coach of the year on the back of winning the Women Euros with Manchester United’s Mary Earps named Goalkeeper of the Year while Barcelona’s Spain forward Alexia Putellas went home with the Best Player (women) award.
