Mo Salah became Liverpool’s record top scorer in the Premier League as his brace helped Liverpool annihilate Manchester United 7-0 at the Anfield stadium.
The Egyptian’s two goals and two assists helped the fifth-place Premier League side sink their eternal rivals with their joint-heaviest defeat – a result that last happened over 70 years ago.
Liverpool produced a legendary Anfield display in the 240th edition of the North-West’s flagship derby to emphatically add fuel to their chase for a seventh straight top-four finish.
Both sides looked to be even at the start of the game until Andrew Robertson sliced open the Red Devils’ defence with a sublime pass to Cody Gakpo who cut cleanly in the box before finishing into the bottom corner in the 43rd minute.
Darwin Nunez headed in just after the break before Cody Gakpo secured his brace. Salah then scored in the 66th minute before Nunez also hit his brace.
Salah surpassed Robbie Fowler’s record haul of 128 Premier League goals for Liverpool in the 83rd minute before Firmino came on to close proceedings with a backheeled pass into the back of the net.
