Erling Haaland’s five-star performance saw Manchester City run 7-0 riot against RB Leipzig in the second leg UEFA Champions League tie at the Etihad.

Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Leipzig looked confident of pulling a shocker in the early exchanges.

Haaland’s first half hattrick started with a contentious penalty with his second of the night also raising eyebrows but there was no stopping the big Norwegian from setting records and owning the night with a stellar performance.

Erling Haaland’s stellar performance sees Man City run riot over Leipzig

Gundogan found the bottom corner from outside the box in the 49th minute before Haaland got his fourth in the 52nd minute as RB Leipzig failed to clear off a corner properly.

The Norwegian got his fifth five minutes later to make it six-nil for the hosts.
It was a record-setting moment as that meant Pep Guardiola became the only man to have coached two players who have scored 5 UCL goals in the knockout stages – Lionel Messi being the first.

Kevin De Bruyne completed the rout in the second injury time minute to make it 7-0 for the night and 8-1 on aggregate.

It took Haaland just 25 games to reach 30+ goals in the UEFA Champions League…a feat he achieved at a faster rate than the likes of Van Nistelrooy, Messi, Lewandowski, Mbappe, Cavani and Neymar.

He also scored his five goals within 57 minutes, better than Messi (84 minutes) and Luiz Adriano (82 minutes).

He has now scored 39 goals in just 36 appearances for Manchester City this season.
