Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has retired from football, bringing an end to his 22-year career.
The 39-year-old Togolese forward retired after a stint with Togolese club AC Semmasi who he joined in July 2021.
He began his career at AC Merlan Lome before joining FC Metz’s youth team in 1999 at the age of 15 before moving to Monaco in 2003 where he emerged as one of the top forwards in European football.
He then joined Arsenal in 2006 before moves to Manchester City, Real Madrid, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Istanbul Basaksehir, Kayserispor, Paraguayan side Olimpia Asuncion and AC Semmasi.
Adebayor scored 207 goal in 593 apperances and won the Copa Del Rey at Real Madrid in 2011.
He is Togo’s all-time topscorer with 26 goals in his 65 appearances for the Sparrow Hawks winning the African Footballer of the Year prize in 2008 after leading the national team to their only world cup appearance in 2006.
