Antonio Conte and Premier League club Tottenham Hotspurs have parted ways following the manager’s sensational rant days ago.
Reports had been rife about the hierarchy of the North London club sacking Conte and appointing a new manager to replace him since his postmatch rant.
The Italian, who recently had a surgery, was frustrated about his side picking up just a point after being on the verge of victory in their 3-3 draw with Southampton.
Spurs are presently fourth with 49 points from 28 games in the league this season.
Tottenham averaged 1.88 points per game in the Premier League under Antonio Conte with 32 wins, 9 draws and 15 losses in his 56 games in charge, the second highest figure for any Spurs manager who has had at least 38 games in charge.
For context:
1.89 – Pochettino
1.88 – Conte
1.83 – Villas-Boas
1.74 – Redknapp
1.64 – Mourinho
Conte’s assistant, Christian Stellini who had taken charge of some of the games he’s missed this season, has been put in interim charge until the end of the season with Ryan Mason handling training sessions in recent days.
A list of potential replacements have been drawn up with Julian Nagelsmann, who was recently sacked by Bayern Munich, the odds-on favorite to land the job.
