Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has harped on the importance of unity of purpose and actions to achieve the desired Lagos.

He said: ‘I want to remain the Governor of all Lagosians, irrespective of faith, creed or tongue.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The certificate was presented by Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Olusegun Agbaje at the INEC office in Yaba.

Sanwo-Olu, who addressed reporters after the ceremony, said: “I want to remain the Governor of all Lagosians, irrespective of faith, creed or tongue. Just as diversity propels progress in all global cities that we know, we must purpose to make diversity birth prosperity for our dear state. What makes Lagos unique is our ability to co-exist, as a city and as a State. The understanding of rule of law and order, and the ability to be resilient, is Lagosians are all about.

“Let us never forget who we are – Lagosians first and foremost, united by the ideals that this megacity embodies – hard work, tolerance, diversity, innovative
energy, and an unending quest for excellence.

“Every day, regardless of where in Lagos we live, or what mother tongue we claim, or the faith we embrace, we all set out full of hope and expectation that our hustle will pay
off, that today will be better than yesterday, and tomorrow will be better than today.

“Those ideals and aspirations are the things that truly matter; over and above any of the differences that may exist among us.

“Like I have said, elections are over, politicking is over, purposeful leadership is important now. We will even do quicker and faster jobs more than the one we have done in the last four years.”

The Governor also restated the administration’s commitment to fulfill all its electoral promises to the people.

He said: “We have made promises, and we have also delivered on so many of them. In the last few months, you would have seen a lot of communication around what we
have been able to accomplish over the last four years, in line with our THEMES Agenda.

“Now we must take the work to a new level of performance and delivery. We will complete all the projects we have started, and ensure that new ones are funded, prioritised and delivered. This is our solemn promise to you.”
