Robert Lewandowski scored a brace as Barcelona comfortably dispatched bottom-of-the-table Elche to edge closer to a first La Liga title since 2019.

The Poland striker got his 16th league goal this season with a scuffed finish in the 20th minute and Ansu Fati added Barca’s second eight minutes into the second half.

Gavi teed up Lewandowski for his 17th league goal – the Catalonian giants third of the night – before Ferran Torres extended the lead further in the 70th minute.

The reounding victory means Barcelona are now 15 points clear of second-placed Real Madrid and well on course for a title win at the end of the season.

Elche, who had Sebastian Beccacece – their fourth permanent manager of the season – on the touchlines for the first time since his appointment remain 14 points from safety at the bottom of the table.

Real Madrid have the chance narrow the gap to 12 points again when they host Real Valladolid on Sunday.
