Chelsea’s first game of the post-Potter era ended in a goalless draw with Liverpool in Tuesday’s biggest Premier League clash.

In a game that saw both sides miss a number of chances, Chelsea undid most of their good work in attack with their profligacy despite being in control almost all through the encounter.

Reece James had his 26th minute goal ruled out for offside.

Kai Havertz then thought he had scored the first goal since Graham Potter left the Blues but it was rightly ruled out for handball in the build up.

Jurgen Klopp was forced to ring some changes to his starting eleven due injuries and illness with Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk losing their spots to Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Mo Salah, who had been placed on the bench after he picked up a knock, came on alongside James Milner and Cody Gakpo but it was to no effect as it ended in a stalemate.

Elsewhere, Evan Ferguson and Julio Enciso scored to give Brighton a 2-0 win away at Bournemouth while Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra canceled out Orel Managala’s 12th minute goal to earn Leeds all three points at home to Nottingham Forest.

Bertrand Traore scored the winner as Aston Villa got the better of Leicester who were reduced to ten men in their first game of the post-Rodgers era.

Drewsbury-Hall was booked twice within six minutes after Harvey Barnes had canceled out Ollie Watkins’ goal in the first half.
