Onome Ebi was on the scoresheet as Nigeria’s Super Falcons defeated the Football Ferns of New Zealand with three unreplied goals in an international friendly in Turkey.

The captain of Nigeria’s senior women national team opened the scoring in the 34th minute before newly invited Onyi Echegini doubled the lead for Randy Waldrum’s side in the 48th minute.

Desire Oparanozie, who only recently returned to the side after a long period of absence, completed the scoring in the fourth minute of injury time as the Super Falcons got their third straight win.

Nigerian football lovers were excited about the result and performance of the ladies as they served good combination play in many pockets of the encounter.

New Zealand have now gone nine games without a win – suffering seven defeats and two draws – conceding 22 goals and scoring only two in that period.

Waldrum’s Falcons will be hoping to build on this momentum as they continue their preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup that kicks off July 20.
