Premier League clubs have taken a monumental step towards promoting responsible gambling by collectively voting to ban gambling companies from sponsoring the front of matchday shirts by the end of the 2025/26 season.
Sleeve sponsorships and LED advertising, however, will still be allowed after the deadline.
Before the deadline, clubs will also be allowed to secure new shirt-front deals provided the deals do not last beyond the deadline.
Newcastle United, West Ham United and Everton are amongst eight top-flight clubs who have gambling companies on the front of their shirts with the sponsorship deals in total worth an estimated £60m per year.
The decision will see the Premier League become the first sports league in the UK to take such a measure voluntarily in order to reduce gambling advertising.
