Victor Lindelof sent Manchester United through to the FA Cup final at Wembley after he scored the Red Devils’ seventh kick in a thrilling penalty shootout.

In what was the fifth FA Cup semifinal game ever to go all the way to penalties, it was the Swedish defender who kept his calm to send Brighton goalkeeper Sanchez the wrong way after Solly March had missed the seventh for the Seagulls.

Casemiro, Dalot, Sabitzer, Rashford, Sancho and Weghorst all converted for Manchester United while Estupinan, Dunk, Undav, Webster and Gross all scored theirs before March’s miss.

Fans of both sides were on the edge of their seats all through as the two teams hassled a goalless draw in regulation time before holding strong against each other in thirty minutes of extra time.

Roberto de Zerbi’s side have come in leaps and bounds since gaining promotion into the top flight and, despite the disappointment of the evening’s result, have been praised by football fans across the globe with many tipping them for greater achievements in the coming years.

For Erik Ten Hag’s side, this is the second final in the domestic cups this season – a feat many thought was unachievable at the beginning of the season.

The Red Devils would be boosted by this triumph after the smothering loss to Sevilla that saw them exit the quarterfinal of the Europa League on Thursday.

They will now prepare for an uphill task in the final against city rivals Manchester City – the first ever Manchester Derby final in the FA Cup’s rich history.
