A Kevin DeBruyne brace added more misery for the Gunners as Manchester City marched to a 4-1 win in a top of the table clash.
The Belgian midfield maestro struck a devastating partnership with Erling Haaland that produced a seventh minute goal to put the Cityzens in the lead before John Stones headed in a second which went through a VAR check before being correctly awarded just as the first half wrapped up.
Haaland then turned provider again as he laid the ball for Kevin DeBruyne to finish in between Rob Holding’s legs in the 54th minute.
Rob Holding pulled one back for Arteta’s side with a fine strike to make it 3-1.
Erling Haaland, who had seen Aaron Ramsdale save four of his previous efforts, then scored his 33rd league goal of the season to make it 4-1.
Pep Guardiola’s side, who have two games in hand, can now move top with victory against Fulham on Sunday.
Arsenal, on the other hand, will be hoping for a miracle after a disastrous slump has seen them drop 9 points in their last 4 games.
The Gunners have now lost all 12 of their last meetings with Manchester City – their most against one club in their history.
