The Confederation of African Football has rejected Sierra Leone’s Southern Arena as venue for the country’s home clash with Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
The governing body of African football had initially agreed to have the game at the newly constructed Southern Arena in Bo City but changed its mind after it finding out that the city lacked standard hotels.
Sierra Leone must now look for a new suitable venue for the encounter with the Super Eagles on June 20.
The country’s national team, the Lone Stars, must record maximum points in the remaining two games to stand a chance to qualify for the biennial competition.
Under the guidance of John Keister, the Lone Stars are hoping to qualify for the African Cup of Nations for their fourth time ever.
