World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister scored a last-minute penalty to settle a Premier League thriller between Brighton and Manchester United.

The Argentine midfielder, who is reportedly set to join Manchester United’s eternal rivals Liverpool this summer, converted from the spot deep into injury time after Luke Shaw had handled the ball in the area to send the home fans inside the American Express Community stadium into rapturous joy.

It was a dramatic encounter between two sides jostling for European slots with both sides having chances all through the game.

Brighton, fresh from the 6-0 thrashing of Wolves, played with the verve and relentlessness that has become their trademark enroute the win.

Brighton are now sixth and only four points adrift of Liverpool who have played two games more.

Erik ten Hag’s side, who now have only one game in hand, are fourth and in the final Champions League qualification spot – just four points ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool.

And Brighton deserved this victory for a relentless approach that finally gave them the breakthrough seconds from the end after Luke Shaw handled.
