Gov. Biodun Oyebanji, the Ekiti State Governor on Saturday, suspended one of his newly appointed Commissioners with immediate effect.

The commissioner for Chieftaincy and Home Affairs, Olaiya Atibioke, was suspended barely a week after inauguration.

It could be recalled that Governor Oyebanji, on Tuesday, inaugurated a total of 19 commissioners and 14 special advisers.

The governor, while announcing the two weeks suspension, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, said that the suspension was due to the commissioner’s unauthorised departure from the three-day retreat organised for members of the State Executive Council and Permanent Secretaries held in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital on Saturday.

He said, “The Commissioner left the retreat without permission. He was nowhere to be found during the signing of the performance charter.”

The Governor, who fully participated in all the sessions of the retreat, had earlier noted that there would be zero tolerance for indiscipline and poor performance.
