Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, January 10, mourned over the passing of Sheikh Abdul-Hafeez Aṣhamu Abou, the Baba Adinni of Lagos and chairman of the Executive Council of Lagos Central Mosque who passed away at the age of 101 on Tuesday, January 9.
Sanwo-Olu revealed this in a post on his X handle on Wednesday, January 10.
He wrote: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Sheikh Abdul-Hafeez Aṣhamu Abou, the Baba Adinni of Lagos and Chairman of the Executive Council of Lagos Central Mosque.
“His death is a great loss to his family, the Muslim community, and Lagos State.
“Sheikh Abou lived an exemplary life dedicated to peace and harmony in the state. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, associates, and the entire Muslim community in Lagos.
“I pray that Allah grants him peace and grants his family strength during this difficult time.”
