We‘re on trail of Lagos PDP chairman abductors — Police

The Ogun State Police Command has intensified efforts to apprehend the perpetrators behind the abduction of Philip Aivoji, the Lagos State chapter chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The abduction occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed this during a briefing with journalists in Abeokuta on Friday.

Aivoji was reportedly abducted by unknown individuals on Thursday evening while travelling along the Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

He was accompanied by nine other party members, all returning from the party’s Stakeholders’ Zonal Caucus Meeting in Ibadan.

Assuring swift action, Alamutu stated that the police force is actively pursuing the abductors of the party chieftain.

He mentioned that during a confrontation, police engaged the gunmen in a gun battle, resulting in the release of nine hostages. However, Mr Aivoji was taken captive by the abductors.

Confirming the incident, Alamutu stated, “It is true; they were kidnapped on Thursday evening at Ogere on the Lagos-Ibadan motorway.

Our men engaged them, and in the process, nine of the victims were released, but the PDP chairman was taken away.”
