April Fools’ Day a celebration centered around lighthearted deception and marked on the first day of April invites various kinds of mischief.

While the fools day knows no boundaries, one rule is constant. That the jokes should not go beyond 12.00 pm. After that time, you are supposed to hold your hands up and come clean about your various pranks.

On Monday morning, Kenyans were treated to an unexpected prank, where a local publication stated that Nigerian singer David Adeleke aka Davido was arrested by police on Sunday.

The prank detailed that Davido and his seven crew members were held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) following a search on his private jet, where narcotic drugs were found.

It added that Davido and his crew were arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Police Unit at JKIA.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has since branded the report as ‘Fake News’.

The publication, K24 Digital, had indicated in a photo caption that the story was fictious and only meant for April Fools Day.

However, while a section of Kenyans knew the intention of the article, others had treated it as truth.

Citizen Digital understands that Davido left Kenya on Sunday, after a night of performance at the Raha Fest, which was held in Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi on Saturday night.

The publication has since confirmed that the report was an April Fools’ Day prank.
