In a move to address flood across Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government Barrister Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, has visited Glory Estate in Ifako to investigate and address persistent flooding problems in the area.

During the inspection, it was discovered that the drainage channel leading to the central canal had been obstructed by certain property owners, significantly contributing to the flooding issues plaguing the community.

In response to this finding, Chairman Ogunlewe issued a stern warning to the responsible parties. He advised them to immediately clear the blockages and restore proper drainage flow, emphasising the importance of maintaining public infrastructure for the benefit of all residents.

The chairman made it clear that failure to comply with this directive would result in legal consequences. “We cannot allow the actions of a few to jeopardise the well-being of the entire community,” Ogunlewe stated.

This intervention demonstrates the local government’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges and ensuring the safety and comfort of Kosofe residents. The chairman’s visit and subsequent actions underscore the administration’s proactive approach to urban management and flood mitigation.

Local authorities will continue to monitor the situation in Glory Estate, with follow-up inspections planned to ensure compliance and assess the effectiveness of the remedial measures.

The residents were also glad for the giant strides taken by Barrister Ogunlewe to intervene with a lasting solution to the perennial flood experience in the Estate.
