Members of the 10th Senate have passed a vote of confidence on the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

The vote of confidence on the Senate chief followed reports that his colleagues have plans to impeach him.

Several online media outlets have suggested that the presidency has deployed a significant number of operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) to the National Assembly Complex.

This move, they claimed is speculated to be aimed at hindering senators from fulfilling their constitutional duties, including an alleged scheme to oust Akpabio as Senate President.

Akpabio had however dismissed the reports, saying the red chamber remains united.

In a terse statement on the official X handle of the Senate, on Thursday, October, 17, they disclosed that a vote of confidence has been passed on the Senate presiding officer.

The statement reads: “Tenth Senate pass vote of confidence on President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio and entire Leadership of the Senate.”
