Police escorts assigned to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, have been withdrawn with immediate effect, including those securing the Assembly complex.
This sudden move has left both the Speaker and the legislative building without formal security cover amid crisis rocking the Lagos State Assembly.
Confirming the development, a source who spoke on condition of anonymity expressed concern over the abrupt security withdrawal.
“As we speak, all security has been withdrawn from the Speaker, and she is now on her own,” the source stated.
He further warned that the Speaker is now “vulnerable and open to attack,” stressing the urgent need for authorities to address the situation.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Lagos State Police Command nor the state government has issued an official statement on the reason for the withdrawal.
