The week long activities to mark Three years of remarkable administration of Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe as the Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State come to an end on Friday July 26, 2024.

The celebration was a moment for the people of Kosofe Local Government and its environs bringing out their drums and cymbals in joyous ecstasy as a sheer sense of fulfillment to applauded the vision and mission of Moyosore Ogunlewe laudable achievement.

The event which took place at the Secretariat of the Local Government was a testaments and reflection of developmental projects in Kosofe Local Government by Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe.

In his address, Ogunlewe expressed gratitude to the people of the Local Government, Legislative arm of the council, his able Vice Chairman and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) for providing the platform to serve the good people of Kosofe Local Government. He emphasized that the projects were initiated based on the specific needs of the communities, determined through thorough surveys.

Recounting some of his major achievements, Ogunlewe said his administration place value on Peoples Oriented Projects, where he highlighted some of his laudable achievements that cut across every sector.


Water Supply

Boreholes: 20 boreholes were planned, with 10 completed and commissioned. Locations include Eya Oke Street, Adebare Street, Round-about Market, Sholuyi Ayodele Okewon Street in Ogudu, and Olayiwola Owoya Street and Miyaki Street in Oworonshoki.

Road Infrastructure

Road Construction: 36 roads have been constructed and completed, including Mudi Lane, Lateef Dosunmu Street, Adebayo Mogolu Street, and more. These roads span areas such as Anthony, Mende, Ojota, Ogudu, Ifako, and Oworonshoki.

Health Facilities

Public Health Centers: Donations of ambulances to ensure swift patient transport and the construction of new health centers.

Council Buildings

Modernization: Reconstruction and remodeling of council buildings, including the Kosofe National Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) building, and ongoing secretariat projects.

Education

Support Initiatives: Distribution of GCE and JAMB forms to 200 students annually since 2022, along with preparatory tutorials. A Storey building with standardized learning materials to Mosafejo Primary School. Support for adult literacy programs to ensure educational opportunities for all.

Cleanliness

Environmental Efforts: Regular sanitation and drainage cleaning, with aspirations to be the cleanest local government in Lagos State.

Food Bank

Establishment of the Kosofe Food Bank to support vulnerable residents.

Giving honour to this feat by Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, Minister of state Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande who was among the dignitaries at the event praised the innovation of Ogunlewe’s energetic and effective leadership style.

“For a council chairman to have 36 roads, 11 is completed, 11 is ongoing, this means we are reaching out to the grassroots. He’s saying that it is time to government in the local area for the people, and that is the forefront of the things you can see. It’s not only road, you can see schools, you can see a lot of things in education sector. You can see all those things and it’s been written. It is not a paper weight something, it is not something that they write for him. It is something that we can see with our eyes.” said Olawande

He urged Nigerian youths to avoid being manipulated by opposition forces and to support President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to revive the economy, calling for patience and constructive engagement rather than protests.

In his own address Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Bolaji Kayode Robert, commended the effort of Barrister Moyosore on developmental projects that has impacted a lots in the life of the people of Kosofe. He acknowledged that such projects only bring development to the table.

While addressing journalists on the future plan for Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe reaffirmed that his administration has positioned Kosofe as a model local government in Lagos State, dedicated to improving the lives of its residents.

“We have a target at the government. Our target is to make sure we can achieve about 40-45 roads before the end of this administration, and I think it’s achievable we’ll keep doing it. ”
“Be rest assured of my commitment. I’m here as local government chairman. I’m going to make sure that I touch every possible places so that you can feel the dividends of democracy.”
