Leeds secured a famous victory over Chelsea to continue their unbeaten start to the season as they added to Thomas Tuchel’s nightmares.

Chelsea’s Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy gifted Leeds the opener by miscontrolling a backpass which summer signing Brenden Aaronson pounced on to score.

Four minutes later Rodrigo scored his fourth of the season after Jack Harrison’s delivery from a freekick conceded by Raheem Sterling just outside the area.

Leeds outmuscled  their opponents, especially in midfield, all through the game an echo of the famous historical battles between the two rivals in ages past.

A first Premier League win over Chelsea in seven attempts, dating back to 2002, was sealed and confirmed when impresario Jack Harrison scored after Daniel James’ cross was touched to him by Rodrigo.

Waves of utter disbelief rang through an already raucous Elland Road as the home fans taunted their Chelsea counterparts and manager Jesse Marsch punched the air in wild joy.
