It was a beautiful evening for Madridstas worldwide as Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema won the men’s Player of the Year award following his stellar performances to help the Los Merengues win a La Liga and Champions League double last season.

His manager Carlo Ancelotti was named as the men’s Coach of the Year while his partner upfront Vinicius Junior was named the men’s Young Player of the Year for his efforts over the past season.

England manager Sarina Wiegman was named women’s UEFA Coach of the Year – and deservedly so, after leading the Lionesses to a historic victory at the Euros 2022 which held in England. Wiegman beat Lyon manager Sonia Bompastor, who guided the French side to their eighth Champions League title, and Germany coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg to the prestigious award.

Spain’s Barcelona captain Alexia Putellas also claimed the women’s Player of the Year award for to make it two wins in two years.
