German keeper Loris Karius has joined Premier League club Newcastle United as a free agent on an initial contract until January.
The 29-year-old became a free agent after leaving Liverpool in the summer and there is an option to extend the deal until the end of the season.
Karius joins the Magpies after back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow suffered an ankle injury.
Newcastle lost shotstopper Martin Dubravka during the summer to Manchester United on a season-long loan after Nick Pope joined from Burnley.
Karius played for Liverpool in their 2018 Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid where it later emerged he had suffered a concussion.
He then had loan spells at Besiktas and Union Berlin before his Reds exit.
