Damar Hamlin,the Buffalo Bills player who collapsed on the field during a primetime US National Football League game in Cincinnati on Monday night, is still in critical condition but is improving, according to his team.
The Bills provided a brief update on his status on Wednesday. Tributes to Hamlin have poured in from the Buffalo community, the NFL, and sports fans worldwide.
Hamlin showed “signs of improvement noted yesterday and overnight,” according to a tweet from the Bills.
During the game, Hamlin went into cardiac arrest after tackling Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins, whose helmet appeared to hit Hamlin in the chest.
After initially rising to his feet, Hamlin collapsed on his back. His injury during the game surprised his family and loved ones, according to his uncle Dorrian Glenn.
Mr Glenn told reporters that Hamlin had to be resuscitated twice, once on the field and once in the hospital, but the player’s friend and marketing agent Jordon Rooney later claimed that the uncle misspoke.
