Eddie Nketiah’s last gasp winner gave Arsenal a 3-2 victory over rivals Manchester United in a pulsating Premier League encounter at the Emirates stadium.
The young forward scored a brace – with both goals coming either side of Bukayo Saka’s brilliant strike – to confirm his credentials as an important part of The Gunners’ title charge.
The academy graduate showed he was more than just a deputy for the injured Gabriel Jesus as he constantly troubled the United defence throughout the game.
Manchester United drew first blood after Marcus Rashford found the back of the net with a fine strike after Thomas Partey’s error. Nketiah and Saka looked to have gifted Arteta’s men a comeback win before Lisandro Martinez’s first goal for Manchester United restored parity just before the hour mark.
Nketiah, who was lurking around in the opposition box, put the ball behind De Gea for the winner after a fine exchange of passes and moves between Zinchenko and substitute Leandro Trossard who was making his debut. The young Englishman had earlier been denied by David De Gea from point-blank range but he was relentless in his quest to give his team a win.
Arsenal have now gone five points clear at the top of the table while Erik Ten Hag’s side have dropped to fourth.
