Manchester United and Barcelona played out a thrilling first-leg 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp to leave their Europa League play-off tie finely poised.

Marcos Alonso headed in at the back post from Raphinha’s corner to give Barca the opener but United responded immediately as in-form Marcus Rashford slipped in a fine shot beyond Marc-Andre Ter Stegen at the near post.

Erik ten Hag’s side showed their resilience to turn the game around as Barcelona defender Jules Kounde scored an own goal off Rashford’s cross.

The Red Devils were unable to hold on as ex-Leeds winger Raphinha’s cross from wide on the right sailed all the way into the net.

Barca almost snatched a late victory when Casemiro’s attempted clearance struck his own post.

Both sides will be heading into next Thursday’s second leg at Old Trafford with hopes of getting an outright win as the away goal rule no longer binds.

Barca will be sweating over the availability of Pedri after he picked up an injury with Gavi also set to miss the affair due to suspension.

For Erik ten Hag, he will be expecting Sabitzer and Lisandro Martinez back after they missed tonight’s draw with suspension.
