Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed he was scared Christian Eriksen’s season was over after suffering an ankle injury in an FA Cup tie with Reading in January.

The Dutch manager, who could not hide his excitement about the Denmark midfielder’s return ahead of schedule, also revealed that the Dane is in the United squad for Saturday’s Premier League encounter with Everton at Old Trafford.

He, however, is still upset at the manner of the injury, caused by a tackle from striker Andy Carroll who was not booked for the challenge.

Ten Hag also confirmed Luke Shaw would miss the game after being substituted in the first half of Wednesday’s win against Brentford.
