Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City saw them get a third successive quarter final exit in the Champions League.

The Bavarians, who have made only two semi final appearances since 2017, struggled to find inspiration to overturn a 3-0 first leg defeat to former manager Guardiola’s side.

Erling Braut Haaland atoned for his first half penalty miss after Upamecano had handled the ball in the box with a fabulous finish in the 57th minute.

It was the Norwegian’s 48th goal in 41 games for Manchester City this season – his 35th in 27 UEFA Champions League games.

Haaland now has as many career Champions League knockout stage goals (13) as Luis Suárez and Neymar.

The 22-year-old has also scored the most goals scored for an English club in a single Champions League campaign (12) since Ruud van Nistelrooy for Manchester United in the 2002/03 season.

Kevin De Bruyne, who set him up, has assisted 23 goals in all competitions this season, now his most in a single campaign for the Cityzens (he had 22 in 2019-20), and five more than any player for clubs in Europe’s big-five leagues in 2022-23.

Joshua Kimmich found the back of the net in the 83rd minute from the spot after substitute Sadio Mane won a penalty for Tuchel’s side minutes after coming on.

Tuchel was sent off after getting booked twice for his touchline antics.

Bayern Munich toiled and searched for more goals but they missed chances to pull something against the Citeh defence as the aggregate scoreline read 4-1 in favor of Pep Guardiola’s side at full-time.

In Italy, it was a six-goal thriller as Inter Milan advanced at the expense of Benfica after a 3-3 draw with the aggregate scoreline at 5-3 in favor of the Italian giants.

Inter now have a date with city rivals AC Milan in the semifinals while all eyes will be fixed on the epic encounter between Real Madrid and Manchester City.
